How safe is your house?

June 11th 2009 05:50
When my husband travels interstate, and I’m sitting home at night, just me and my son and the dogs, I think feel secure enough. I don’t need a big strong man to protect me. Or do I?

There are a lot people out there, with no proper job, no hope, no idea on how to get a good life legally, and no morals. These people can be so lacking in ideas how to legally better their situation that they decide taking from other, better off people is the best way to go.

These people resort to violence if you are unprepared, and decide to fight them. I say be prepared, so you know what you are dealing with, and you make it harder for the ones who would steal from your home. These people are usually not rally smart, and if you make the robbery job too hard, they are more likely to give up on stealing from you home, and move on to somewhere easier.

My barking dogs wouldn’t be much protection from a man with a gun, one shot would shut them up. But an ADT home security system would baffle the would-be thieves and have them going somewhere else.

ADT is the number one home security provider globally and I think that if you are signed up with them, they will do their utmost to help keep you and your safe.

Looking at the ADT home security website, it is clear that ADT home security are committed to looking at home security in an holistic manner. I read an interesting article on their website about the importance of getting involved with your neighbours – if you know your neighbours and they know you, it makes for a much more secure life, because you are each looking out for each other.

So they are looking at the broad picture, and applying their knowledge in a variety of useful ways.

Friends forever

June 2nd 2009 06:04
Oh, if you loved this post you've just got to read this article!

I laughed with horror as I read it! I feel like writing a horror story about a friend like that! Friend or Fiend!?

On to a more serious note now.

There are so many different kinds of friends. I know I am never going to have another best friend like Wendy. Wendy and I met when we were twelve. She was a shy girl who loved horses, I was a shy girl who's Dad was a horse trainer.

We talked, brushed horses and discovered boys. She was gorgeous but had low, low self-esteem, I was plain with slightly more self-esteem. We got on so well, we vowed to be friends forever in a little ceremony on her street.

We finished school, started work, had boyfriends, moved away, got married, but whenever we met up again, it was just like we were kids together again. Then Wendy died, in a tragic accident. Since then I think I'm a little scared to really commit to a best friend as close as Wendy was, just in case they die too.

Wendy knew things about me that no-one else knew, things I don't think I can ever really tell anyone else about. My secrets are safe, but I wish I still had Wendy to share them with.

Wendy and I will always be best friends.

A Friend will let you know

May 27th 2009 23:44
What do you do when you have a friend who stinks? Well, maybe not stink, but perhaps you’ve got a friend whose odour doesn’t fill you with joy. What can you do?

Telling them outright would/could be embarrassing, but you are getting tired of their tired (or worse) smell. What to do?

To just come out and say, Hey, you stink! would be extremely rude. If the friend is one who matters to you, this would not be the way to do it. There are more subtle ways to do this job. And keep telling yourself that helping this person with their odour issue is one of those win/win situations. Your friend has more chance of getting more friends, and you get the chance to be able to breathe freely in their presence.

One way might be to get your friend some products from an bath an online body store like Sabon, and find a special reason to give them the gift. Or you might say you had some extras you won’t be able to use and ask if they’d like them.

Or you could be talking one day about things you’ve found online and find a way to talk about body scubs or handmade soap.

In the meantime, it this person works in the same place as you, you could use reed diffusers, which are subtly scented and make interesting objects to have dotted around the place. Even if the person doesn’t pick up on the hints, the rest of the office will smell better anyway!

I saw these reed diffusers at a store the other week, and I think they are just so elegant. I would love to have them in my house, I'm sure we have dog odour, we just can't smell it. I'd have to put the diffusers up where the dogs can't reach, because they'd probably eat them, given half a chance.

What are friends for?

May 27th 2009 23:15
We all have friends, even you out there, you know who I'm talking about, yeah you.

Some friends are easy to deal with, they show up every now and then for a drink and a bit of a chat, then drift off to their own life again. Super simple. They are funny and fun, and they don't cause any strife

Safe as Houses

May 17th 2009 22:40
With the share market going down, down, down it’s hard to know where to look when you have some money to invest. And it’s hard to know where to look for good advice who to listen to for advice. With the price of housing going down, now is the time to invest in real estate.

Do you live in the Arizona region? There are plenty of bargains to be had if you know where to look for them. If you aren’t sure where to look, check out Klever Investor arizona property wholesaler for all the help you’ll need with finding the right place to invest. They buy up properties wholesale so you can invest

wolves at the door

May 17th 2009 22:33
Well, I spent three hours at one of the Gawler Pubs last Friday night, all by myself, scribbling away in my notebook. My werewolf story is taking shape and with any luck, this one could be my ticket into bestseller status!

I don't believe that, of course, I'm just trying to build up my confidence in the project. I am a bit excited about it - it is quite different from the other ms I am working on, and I feel I can do both concurrently. I may be delusional, but that is hardly a new thing for me

Pesky Paperwork

Do you know what I hate? I hate filing in those horrible forms you have to fill in if you want to apply for a loan, or change your loan, or do anything at all with your loan.

I echo the cry I remember from The Simpsons, "Can't Someone else do it

First things first – do you really have a weight problem?

We are constantly bombarded by images of stick thin models of perfection. These unreasonable pictures can set us (women) up for self-hate and a search for comfort (more in next chapter). Then there’s the guys with abs of steel that the blokes are supposed to aspire to

Time of the Werewolf soon?

May 10th 2009 05:43
I began writing a new piece of fiction last Friday night, which, with some input from a friend is looking like it may end up being a novel about Werewolves.

My question is, should I not bother and jump on the Vampire and or Zombie bandwagon which is rampaging through our world at the moment, or should I go with the way the story is looking like at the moment

Don't get your knickers in a twist!

April 30th 2009 23:54
I’m married with a 15 year old son. I don’t have a full time job, so the task of buying underwear for the family is my task. My husband is of the age to value comfort over fashion, while my teenaged son values fashion over comfort, but not completely. His underwear needs to look good, not geeky or nerdy or gay.

But it also needs to feel OK. There’s nothing worse than wearing undies that strangle you, or ride up your bum. For teenagers though, there’s nothing worse also, than looking nerdy, unless it’s because you’re a computer nerd, that’s an OK look
