Moonglow,
this rug is currently on our old sofa, scrunched up and waiting to be put away somewhere, or possibly displayed.
This makes sense when you know I'm Australian, so it's currently Spring, not Autumn (Fall) here.
I spent much of Autumn and early Winter on crocheting it, sitting on the sofa with it spread out over me and my son, going around and around it, until it covered all of the sofa, so it kept all husband, son and I warm through winter 2008.
I used mostly yarn given to me by my friend Ally (wool from sheep she owned or had sheared), or yarn from knitted items I'd bought cheap from Op shops and unravelled. The same friend that gave me yarn kept up an active interest in the rug and is my woolen textile guru. She knows sheep, she knows wool, she's my expert consultant!
I also purchased yarn from the supermarket when I had some extra cash and the colours spoke to me!
I called this rug Autumn Serenity because it is made up almost entirely in the Autmna range of colours. It is a restful rug, made for comfort.
I am an Autumn person, and these are the colours that speak to me. When I'm dressed in Autumn colours, I know I look good!
Thanks for your interest in my work Moonflow - do you have any personal treasures like this yourself?
Thanks for sharing its story! I pretty much give away everything I make. I get so tired of looking at things by the time I get them done, I think. I design my own patterns and I post most of them. for free on the web. I have started a new craft blog here, so I may put some of my patterns on it.
Good luck with your next project! I hope you'll post a picture!
