A Friend will let you know

What do you do when you have a friend who stinks? Well, maybe not stink, but perhaps you’ve got a friend whose odour doesn’t fill you with joy. What can you do?
Telling them outright would/could be embarrassing, but you are getting tired of their tired (or worse) smell. What to do?
To just come out and say, Hey, you stink! would be extremely rude. If the friend is one who matters to you, this would not be the way to do it. There are more subtle ways to do this job. And keep telling yourself that helping this person with their odour issue is one of those win/win situations. Your friend has more chance of getting more friends, and you get the chance to be able to breathe freely in their presence.
One way might be to get your friend some products from an bath an online body store like Sabon, and find a special reason to give them the gift. Or you might say you had some extras you won’t be able to use and ask if they’d like them.
Or you could be talking one day about things you’ve found online and find a way to talk about body scubs or handmade soap.
In the meantime, it this person works in the same place as you, you could use reed diffusers, which are subtly scented and make interesting objects to have dotted around the place. Even if the person doesn’t pick up on the hints, the rest of the office will smell better anyway!
I saw these reed diffusers at a store the other week, and I think they are just so elegant. I would love to have them in my house, I'm sure we have dog odour, we just can't smell it. I'd have to put the diffusers up where the dogs can't reach, because they'd probably eat them, given half a chance.

i lived with a friend who didnt use any personal hygiene products and i used to point out how strange that was, no soap or shampoo or deodorant or washing powder for his clothes . . . he did stink but rather than say he stunk i simply questioned why he didnt use an antiperspirant
