Adsense - who clicks on ads?
March 21st 2009 02:25
I've just been reading blogs on the writers' forum about people who've made money with Adsense, and I'm amazed and comforted. I am so slowly getting more reader coming to my blogs both here and elsewhere, so I can see that one day, I may crack the $100 and aceeive payout.
But thinking about that got me thinking - who are the people who actually click on the ads that help us make a little cash? I read blogs on Orble, and I am so interested in the blog itself, I don't even notice the ads. It might just be me - I tend to ignore stuff I'm not interested in, and advertising is one of the things I'm not interested in.
But people have clicked on ads on my Orble blogs and some of my other blogs too (thanks to whoever you are)
So my question here is, who clicks? Am I missing out on something by not reading the ads on other people's blogs? I know we're not supposed to as people to click, or click on our own sites, but obviously somebody out there does click.
Any ideas and thoughts on this would be of supreme interest to me. I am trying to find a way to earn money that doesn't involve me actually doing anything much at all, and that suits my interests - looking at dogs, writing about them, poetry, making rugs (started another one yesterday - it feels so good!), mucking about on the internet.
I've got a feeling I'm going to have to bite the bullet and actually get a proper job again one day, or start doing more housework or something. Other family members are starting to notice finally that I am a lazy person. I never said I would make a good housewife, no promises, but still, I'd better do something soon. Or write a bestselling novel or I don't know, something.

I started to answer this and found myself writing too much for a comment. It finally turned into an 800-word post! If you are interested, you can find it here.

You have good earning days and bad ones. On a good day, I make two or three dollars on Orble.
I have some very nice ads on my blog that are targeted to my audience. I look at ads on other people's blogs and discover a lot of neat sites. The only ads I hate on my blogs are the scam-sounding ones (make a million dollars a day from home, etc). But, who knows, maybe those are the ads that people click on.
Good luck with your blog-and with your writing! Let us know when you make payout! I just made my first one, and it felt so good (after all the hard work and the waiting!).

Obviously I have a lot to learn if I want to make money that my fifteen year old son won't laugh at.

Last month I earned about thirty dollars, and this month about twenty so far. I also write for Squidoo and eHow. You may want to try them. Both are honest, paying sites.

With eHow you have to be a US resident to get payment. I'm not a US resident, I'm Australian.
Squidoo, well, I can't remember why I gave that away, I've still got a lens though. That was very early in my online attempts at connected with people. I might try again later perhaps.
Thanks for your comments, Moonglow.
