Hello again world

Hi, I've been away from Orble for too long. I've dropped in on a few Orble sites, but not much. I've been busy reading the first draft of my first ever, completed novel. It's scary and exciting and I have no idea what it's all about.
I'm working at putting it all into some sort of shape, with a story concept, an outline, theme and stuff like that. I have to do that because starting 27 January 2009, I'm working on this writing project in a writing workshop that's happening for one night a week, for 20 weeks starting then.
If I can't get this project to a suitable 'going on with' stage, I doubt I'll ever get it past the first draft stage. And I have to get it further than that, because I have two other only partially written novels that I'm getting excited about again too.
I've got characters from all three stories zipping around in my skull, and I have to get them written down and shut up so I can go back to my poetry project that is very close to my heart.
This novel is about:- '25 year old Laani is losing friends, both new and old and has lost sight of what life is all about. She finds the man she wants to share her life with, she gets death threats from she doesn’t know who and she makes friends of enemies. She finally discovers blood is thicker than water, and if you’re wearing the proper colours, everything always works out better.' There's fashion, angst, fibbing and a little bit of sex.
Does that sound like it has potential? I'm too close and I'm a little frightened of the whole thing, but I'm going to do this - I owe it to myself, and to the people who've put up with me as I've got this far with it.
I have my local police officer waiting to read the bits that need his advice, I have a friend who has said she'll read the second draft when I write it, and I'm sure someone else will like to look at it later. I've never had this many words of just one story before - novels are trickier beasts than short stories or poetry, that's for sure. Wish me luck!
