This rug spend most of the year on my son's bed, and was the best fun I've ever had that didn't involve things I'd have to deny in the morning!
I had so much fun with this rug. It has many special stories within the stitches. I used yarns from many different sources. Some from my friend Ally's collection, including homespun yarns from her own sheep.
There are yarns I've collected over the years, just in case, (you never know when yu might need that very colour). There are yarns given to my by friends and family.
There are special squares - one is a square I made of 'fire', to see if I could do it. Next to 'fire' is 'water', so my son will keep warm, but not too warm.
There is a special square with a lovely yarn made of supersoft mohair, spun and dyed by Ally.
There are squares of imperfect work, that aren't absolutely perfect (many), but that's what makes this rug unique. It has part of me in it, my family, friends and life. It is a story in rug form.
I've had another look at the picture and realised you can only see a tiny part of 'water' as it disappears over the top of the seat, oh well! I'm not perfect either.
wow, nice work!
we always had these kinds of rugs growing up, my grandma made them, theyre great for wrapping around you on a cold night in front of the tv
